Can Stretching Too Much Cause Issues?

Yes, stretching too much can start causing issues, so be mindful.

Stretching too often or for too long can cause problems like joint instability, by weakening connective tissues such as ligaments and tendons, which are designed for stabilization.

Less stabilization can lead to minor issues like strains and inflammation, but also more serious injuries like muscle and labral tears.

It's important to avoid pushing past your body's natural limits and be aware of pain, numbness, or tingling as warning signs. If you feel any of these warning signs, stop immediately and rest.

Do not be forceful with stretching. The idea is to increase flexibility gently and gradually over time.
